Daily Panorama: West Facing View From The Office (looking out to Sketty and The Mumbles)
Started back at work today following three weeks off and my was it hard trying to get back into the groove.
This is actually the view from behind my chair. I previously had a desk facing in this direction – give or take a few feet – but now I am inward facing, with only my colleagues to view in our cramped space.
Although you can’t see the detail here, in the very distance is the seaside village Mumbles, a lovely part of Swansea.
And yes, I could have removed the window, but I like it as a frame for the miniature contents outside.

Daily Panorama: Early Dinner Party, Fish Pie
Dinner was served early at around 5pm with kids in mind. Took a quick opportunity to capture the adults at the table and informed them to keep still!
None of them wanted to keep still, hence the blurs. It was also a very quick capture.

Daily Panorama: Colourful Octopus
Less panorama, more photo-stitch, but actually done with Photosynth in the end. Seeing as it is even less pano than normal, I elected to do some post-processing in Camera+ (a neat replacement for the standard iPhone camera app) and used a vintage style filter thing (Instagram-esque) and Polaroid frame.
I’ll leave you to work out what it is. Not exactly hard is it?
Daily Panorama: Daisy’s Garden
For those of you who’ve seen my efforts so far, you’ll probably think that this is a little better than most and that’s because I was helped. As with all my other panoramas, I’m still doing it shaky hand-held on the iPhone and am moving around like a thin and wispy tree violently clinging on for life in the 100mph winds.
One piece of advice I received for doing panoramas hand-held (that I always aimed to follow but never seem to) was to have an anchor point below you so you know where to keep the camera. However, I generally drift for one reason or another. On this occasion though, I stood in the very centre of a garden circle and the result was a bit more successful. I should have cropped the bottom off though as it looks pretty weird.
Whatever, I like it. Maybe I should get myself a piece of circular paper which I could drop wherever I go to do panos. Might look a little silly tho’.
Daily Panorama: Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
The last days of the Christmas tree. Oh how we love thee in your oddly distorted fishbowlee stylee.
Daily Panorama: Christmas Candles Panoramas x 3
With the weather still grim and with the Christmas decorations due to come down this week, I have done some small panoramas (or photo stitches more like) of the candles on our dinner table. Most, if not all, of these are simply four image captures stitched together using trusty old Microsoft Photosynth on the iPhone 3GS.
I did however want to merge these images somehow to create a 3D/cubist style image, but I haven’t got my head around how to do it as yet.
Daily Panorama: Bracelet Bay, Mumbles Lighthouse from Castellamare on Stormy Day
Did this quick capture in the howling wind whilst trying to stop the kids from running away. Funny sort of day with all seasons represented (hail included) albeit consistently cold.
There really is amazing potential for some lovely panoramas around Bracelet Bay (near Mumbles, Swansea), probably better from behind Castellamare… Or better still on their roof!

Daily Panorama: In car, M5, nr. Weston super mare
Hurray, the first of 365!
Not really much you can capture as a panorama on the motorway in the tipping rain. I did attempt to fool Photosynth into trying to capture motorway road-based content, but it (understandably so) can’t do the job.
Although this isn’t a very quality capture by any means, I do like the three-hands Twix eating.
