Daily Panorama looking up
Daily Panorama Another lovely day by the sea
Regular readers will recognise this view as Langland yet again. It’s by no means my favourite beach in Swansea or Gower, but it’s easy to get to with the little uns and there is always enough there to occupy them.
This view specifically is familiar and oft used because at this point I can safely get the iPhone out. In the rock pools or in the sea, the chances are that our smallest will manage to entertain a full on salt water faceplant, so I’m usually on alert and unable to spin around on the spot capturing one of my amazing panoramas.
To quote that fella off black and white Blue Peter: “Never work with animals or children unless you want to be up to your elbows in excrement.”
For the Mothers
Weekly Playlist #2
It’s mother’s day this weekend, so what better way to show some love than with a mother-themed playlist? Unfortunately, I’m still not getting much embedding love – only 6 tracks worked today, and some of those are fairly random reinterpretations rather than the originals. Still, here it is:
Worth it for The Knife alone – beautiful, even played loud through tinny PC speakers. It also has one of the best videos ever! Here’s the full original playlist:
We Share Our Mother’s Health – The Knife
Does Your Mother Know – ABBA
Your Mother Should Know – The Beatles
Dress Like Your Mother – Sleeper
Every Mother’s Son – The Wedding Present
I Feel Like the Mother of the World – Smog
I Need a Mother – Eels
I Want to be the Boy to Warm your Mother’s Heart – The White Stripes
Mother’s Little Helper – The Rolling Stones
This is to Mother You – Sinead O’Connor
No worries about missing Sinead O’Connor (unless your mum likes her), but there were some fantastic tracks (e.g. Smog) in there that would have been nice to hear. Oh well, better luck next time.

Daily Panorama: Thick Soup
Fog. Fog. Fog. John Carpenter’s The Fog. Fog.
Normally it’s always rain down here in Swansea, but for a change we were provided with a bizarre alternative of 3 days of virtually zero visibility on our side of Swansea. Over the hill and away from the sea it was 100% visibility as norm and they didn’t know what all the fuss was about.
Oh, we were excited to be surrounded in grey soup. I think our eldest would have actually enjoyed undead pirates spawning from within, but alas he had to make do with his family appearing and reappearing dressed as undead pirates instead.
On the sea front, Langland beach was our choice this time (yes, it always is), the fog/mist burnt off and left us with sun so hot you could burn your neck. And oh did we burn. And we’re still feeling it.
These panoramas illustrate the before and after, or more like the midway and end point. Previous posts illustrate the Big Soup soupiness. These are more like consomme and/or cawl.
Daily Panorama: The Creature from the Fog
This illustrates how thick the fog was!
UPDATE: Clicking on the above image now loads a larger version as requested. It’s not hi-res, but it’s better than the above by miles.
Daily Panorama: Misty Beach
Really odd day weather wise, with a constantly disappearing and reappearing mist by the seaside. Quite amazing though.
Took some panoramas down by the beach to illustrate the difference. Will show these tomorrow or sometime this week.
Good to be back by the way following a sickness related hiatus. I didn’t think the view of a glass of water at the side of the bed would have interested.
Friday Playlist #1
Some things are harder than they should be. I know, I thought, I’ll make a Friday playlist on the blog… that’ll be a fun thing for me to do every week. Why not use Spotify, I thought, then people will actually be able to play it. But no, Spotify won’t let me do that. Okay, I thought, I’ll use last.fm, but no, last.fm won’t let me do it either. So in the end I’m just going to type it out in plain text (on my phone). Am I just being stupid? There’s got to be an easier way, hasn’t there? If there is, please, please let me know.
Without further ado, here is the Friday playlist:
1 – Join the dots – Roots Manuva
2 – Hypnotize – The Notorious B.I.G.
3 – Court Room Blues – Leroy Carr & Scrapper Blackwell
4 – Enjoy Your Worries, You May Never Have Them Again – The Books
5 – Kelly Watch The Stars – Air
6 – Untitled II – Calexico
7 – Come – Lemon Jelly
8 – Ballad Of The Sun And Moon – Alejandro Escovedo
9 – Choking Tara (Creamy Version) – Guided By Voices
10 – Some Jingle Jangle Morning ( When I’m Straight) – Mary Lou Lord
EDIT: I just found this – it only seemed to have 8 of the tracks, but it’s a start. I’m going to try embedding it. Kris – let me know if you don’t want me to embed nonsense here.
